Flipboard brings together high-quality news sources with social content, giving it’s 100 million monthly active users a deep view into everything from political issues to technology trends to travel inspiration. While the internet is struggling with fake news and filter bubbles, Flipboard offers a different approach combining world class-editorial and engineering teams to bring quality content based on your passions.

The Flipboard design team approached us to create a distinct and meaningful visual identity system anchored on the brands core purpose. We identified existing equities then expanded the system into a robust toolkit able to communicate in a multidimensional way.

After refining the logo, color palette and typography system, we created a distinct photographic device to communicate Flipboard’s core point of view. Juxtaposing imagery of macro to micro, local to global, or opposing forces on different sides of a story, the visual language can be applied anywhere and feel unique to the brand.

In the first nine months following the new brand's debut in January 2018, the app’s monthly user base has grown from 100 million people to 145 million, with 11,000 publishers applying to distribute their content on Flipboard.
